  1. I tried to back up my legally owned (by me) X-Files Season One, disc 1 using DVDShrink ver 2.0...however the copied DVD-R will not play. I get a message "This disc is not formated to play in this region".

I tried twice, using compression level 6 and as region free and as region #1...

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

  2. set DVDShrink for Region free insted of choosing a Region. it should work.. if not, try ripping with DVDDecrypter before using dvdshrink

and btw.. Level 6 would look total shit... you can't put 4 hours on a single DVDr !

  3. This is off-topic but where can I find DVDShrink 2? I can't seem to find it on this or any other website.

OK...I tried ripping it as Region free using both smartripper and DVDShrink ver 2 and I still get the same message....

"This disc is not formated to play in this region".

  5. But you were advised to use DVDDecrypter, not Smartripper.

Decrypter seems to be able to perform miracles nothing else can -- my hunch is this is an RCE protected disk, which DVDShrink can't handle (yet -- the author hasn't been able to find an RCE protected disk to be able to fix this. I guess in some places they are as rare as hen's teeth). Decrypter is supposed to handle these just fine.

My hunch is that if you first rip with Decrypter and then use DVDShrink (on the files on your hard drive that Decrypter creates) it will be just fine.

I got this message when I put the DVD into my PC Panasonic DVD recorder drive. However swapping it to the DVD-ROM drive all went without any problems, made a superb job of producing a backup. Excellent software!

  7. I don't use DVDShrink, but i assume that after the transcoding process it generates a VIDEO_TS folder for you to burn? If so then run IFOEdit, open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and make it region free.

Does DVDShrink make the disc all regions or region 0. Because a few standalones actually have problems playing region 0 discs.

  8. I used DVDDecryptor to create an ISO image;
    Mount with Dameon tools
DVD2One to shrink to 1 DVD
Burned with Nero to Verbatim DVD+r 2.4x disc
Plays great in my APex 1500; pixelation only with high change action scenes but barely noticeable.

Never get region problems doing this.
