i put in a DVD, run DVD Decrypter (default settings), it puts all the files in a folder. i then run DVD Shrink and point it to that folder but it says "DVD Shrink encountered an error. Failed to open VTS_01_0_VOB. The system can not find the file specified"

I'm sure it's me and not the software/hardware; what am i doing wrong?

    thanks

DVDDecrypter is OLD and no longer updated. Stop using out of date software on new(er) Hollywood releases.

Yep. Rip it with the newest version of DVDFab HD Decrypter (the ripping function of the software is free), and then see if DVD Shrink can open it.

This comment is a little too definitive for me.

It may be old but it's not "OLD by any means.
It is still my favorite ripper and when combined with ripit4me it has sometimes given me better results than ANY or FAB.

    RipIt4Me:
    Latest version:
    1.7.1.0 (March 23, 2007)

    Old. Outdated.

  6. Try opening the DVD with DVDShrink, if you get the same error then it's the DVD. DVDDecrypter will rip most newer DVD's but it has problems with Disney, Sony and Lionsgate DVD's. Use DVDFab Decrypter or AnyDVD on problem DVD's, also ripping just the main movie will solve many problems.

Agreed. RipIt4Me is still a good ripper. It may work when all others fail. When setup for 1-click mode, it first says whether or not the disc is protected. If unprotected then DVDShrink can be used,

There is a known issue w/ dvdshrink & fixvts is the workaround.....
This little tiny program makes noncompliant files "close enough" for dvdshrink to work...
