  1. Hi!!
got a Leadtec TV2000 XP Deluxe.
i'm trying to capture some VHS tapes using S-Video through Scart converter pluged into the VCR.

problem is the picture is black/white when i choose s-video,
using Composite there is color but would rather use s-video
    because of better quality.
i dont think its the cables, when i use them with tv-out (grafficcard)
connected to directly to tv there are perfect colours but tv-out through VCR is black/white.

im thinking its maybe because the VCR is too old and doesnt
    support S-VHS/S-Video or something?
or maybe someone has had similar issues with the TV2000 XP?

so far i like this tv-card but im still kindoff new to all this.

I also got an Winfast TV200XP card and a 8 year old vcr without svideo connector, so I used the scart to composiet cable to get colour. With the svideo connector I also got a black&white picture.

So, yes it is probably the VCR, newer VCR's probably have an svideo connector. But I have no idea, if the quality of your picture would be so much better.

  3. i have the exact same problem.
i can cap directly from a digital box through s-video to the computer, perfect picture, but through a vcr it turns black & white.
so i guess a vcr with an s-video output is needed.

i have a problem thou, my vcr can play ntsc tapes on the tv, but i cannot cap, the picture just turns black & white, so i guess a new vcr is my solution.

  4. thanks for the replies!!

also found someone with similar problem "just because the VCR has
Scart connecter, does not mean it supports s-video"

now im sure i will need a VCR with s-video output.
the current one is old and getting rusty, so good time for an upgrade.

  5. well, scart doesnt really mean u could use s-video i think.
it doesnt work with my vcr, but it's like 7 years old so... i guess it's time to buy a new one.
