i digitaly recorded 10 minutes of video with the ati media program and when i was done the file was about 2 gigs...is there a way for me to make it smaller without drasticly reducing the quality

Your best bet: do not use the ATI program in the first place.
I personally capture with VirtualdubVCR and mjpeg codec, then convert it to whatever I feel like -
Yes, you could install a lossless compression codec, like HuffyUV and setup the MMC to use it to automatically compress the avi files as they are captured/stored. I have done this before with the MMC. I really don't use the MMC for capture anymore. I use VirtualDub instead.

i have tried to with virtualdub but i can never get picture, i can pnly hear sound...is there something i can do

Yes it occured to me after I posted that I think I read somewhere that VirtualDub does not work for digital captures. However you should be able to get the HuffyUV installed and working with the ATI MMC. If you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll look on that system and tell you where to choose it in the MMC. -
whenever i capture video the sound is allways around a second or so off sync....does anyone know what i am doing wrong
