  1. Hi all,
Has anyone had experience with the new Hauppauge box? I'm very interested in its dual connectivity options (TV and PC) and would appreciate some opinions.

    regards
    El.

  2. I have the Hauppauge Nova-t PCI card which is very similar to the DEC 2000 box except it has a better chance of capping the raw data stream as USB tops out at around 5mbps. The software is absolute shite! Like a cross between win 3.1 and win 95. It hangs a lot, and the only way to restart is to switch off the power! However the picture quality is superb. I grabbed the James Bond Premier show the other night off ITV and have it burnt onto a few CD-R discs. They play back perfectly on my standalone DVD player without any re-encoding. Bitrate is variable up to 5mbps on the BBC / ITV channels, but a bit higher (6 or 7mbps) on music channels. Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks for the info. Pretty similar to other posts i've read. Basically, good product let down by poor software.

hmm, think i'll wait for a bit.

  4. I thought usb topped out at 11mbps ... easily high enough for capturing? Got to admit I am seriously thinking of getting one of these as it isnt much more expensive than the basic receiver and its doing all the mpeg encoding for you plus the audio and video are in sync. does any one else have any thoughts on this type of capturing eg via hardware and usb? are they going to bring out a usb2.0 or firewire version?? what software to use if not theirs?
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
