  1. Hi,

I`m trying to convert a couple of AVI files from the web into (S)VCD and I`m getting the films onto 1 and 2 CD`s but I always get sync probs with the sound. I extract the audio using VDUB and input that in TMPGenc when I convert the AVI, but when I play it back on my dvd player its starts ok then a little while into the film it can be 1 or 2 seconds out then a little later it will be ok again.

Do I have to live with this or is there something I can do?

    Thanks Doot.

You don't have to live with it, but fixing it requires diagnosing the problem first. The most common cause of lack of sync is bad frames in the source file, they must always be removed first before converting. Another common cause is the video and audio durations not matching; The audio can be shrunk or stretched to fit using "Time Warp" in Goldwave. Another possible cause is that the sync was out in the source file; The audio can be started earlier or later by using the audio delay function in TMPGEnc.

Do a forum search as this is easily the most asked about topic and there are lots of posts on it. 8)

I can`t use that as its ok to start then it will get out of sync then can be ok again. I`ll have a look at some old posts for a solution.

Sounds like maybe a playback problem. Does it play OK on your PC? If so, then maybe try burning at a lower speed, try different media, or change the bitrate that you encoded at. If you're using CBR then lower the bitrate a bit. If you're using 2-pass VBR, then set your max. a little lower and your min. a little higher with padding turned on.
