  1. Hi,

    Have tried the following things:

    - Pressing 1 dead fast when the drawer is closing
    - Pressing GOTO then 0000 when the disc is spinning
    - Going into hidden menu and pressing enter then closing drawer manually

None of these work at all, and it is very f*cking annoying! Pressing ENTER in the hidden menu merely jumps to the region select sub-menu. I am very disappointed as I was told this plays VCDs. They are on 99 min discs, but also someone said this is not a problem.

What can I do to play my VCDs? Can anyone help? I have a Toshiba SD220e in my lounge and to make that multiregion I had to burn an image file to a CDRW which altered the player to multiregion. Can I do a similar thing with this at all?

Any help is appreciated on this. Have been to most sites and tried every code for this but none work! Is there a certain rhythm or speed to which you have to press the keys on the remote?

  2. 1. Start your Alba 108 and press eject on the remote.
    2. Put in your VCD/XVCD/SVCD/XSVCD and press 2812 then Enter on the remote. You will get the hidden menu.
    3. Manually push in the disc (DO NOT USE THE EJECT ON THE REMOTE!!)
    4. When the screen has a stop sign up in the top left hand corner, press 1.

It's as easy as that! I have had no problems using this method with VCD/XVCD/SVCD/XSVCD.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Just out of curiosity, do you have to do this every time you want to play a VCD???

    This is hardly VCD support.

VCD support on a player is where you put in the disc and press "play" and the disc plays...

    Regards.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. Pressing 2812 brings up a hidden menu WITHOUT pressing "Enter". When I press "Enter", it jumps into the "choose a region"-type menu. I push the drawer in manually but the front display still shows OPEN.

This method does not work. There is a lot of resistance when I push the drawer in, so I dont like doing it.

    Sorry.

the only other thing i can suggest (this will void your warranty) is to take the lid off the machine, and if the DVD drive is an ordinary IDE model, swap it out and try the one from your pc. if it now plays VCD's fine, buy a second hand rom drive off ebay. if it is still dodgy then it's the actual decoding side that's got a problem, so then you need to give u pand buy a new one.

  8. I dont wanna do anything that will void the warranty. I will just stick with it, although I really want a code that will work. This "press 2812 and ENTER" sh*t just doesnt work.
