  1. Hi there,

I have got 2 AVI files that make one movie and I want to merge them and then cut in 2 back again because I don't like exactly how they are currently split. I know that I can do it in TMPGENC once I have them converted into MPEGs but maybe it's better to edit while they are still in AVI ? What software is best to use to edit AVI if it makes sense at all?

    Thanks

It's best to do it with the avi, use this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubedit.htm

  3. yeah, thanks, I just saw this guide. but now my problem is that the 2 pieces overlap a bit and I do not know how to remove the duplicating piece within the merged file.

Personally I wouldn't have bothered joining the movie prior to encoding with TMPGenc...I'd use the source range feature in TMPGenc to cut out the overlap that you mention.

Now its done though, you can always cut it again with Virtualdub, but this time you'll be cutting the movie a) up to the point that the overlap occurs, then b) starting the next cut at the point that the overlap ends. Then if you want to join em up into one file use virtualdub again to join....as I say, best to use TMPGenc's source range feature to start with!
