I am about to buy the Canopus ADVC-100, to copy old VHS & Hi8 Camcorder stuff to DVD.

My Sony DVD Burner comes with Sonic's myDVD authoring software, should I try to get to grips with this or just buy ULead's Video Studio 7.0 which seems to come highly recommended.

I want software that gives the least hassle, but allows me to edit my Camcorder footage & add chapter menus etc. retaining all quality.

I see that myDVD goes on about being able to edit a previously written dvd in place without using the hard drive, is this OpenDvd ? and is it any use ?

    My hard drive is 60GB.

What about Ulead's DVD Movie Factory 2 is this less sophisticated then Video Studio 7.0 ?

Also, do I need to use this TMPGEnc, I keep reading about ?

  3. Ulead Video Studio 7 is very strong and simple for for editing and rendering. Movie Factory 2 is more for combineing and converting already completed video or captureing raw video or slidshows to a menu format for VCD/DVD. Edit the video in Video Studio 7 and save as a video file. Then import it to Movie Factory 2 with the other video to set up menus. Video Studio 7 will allow you to also capture and burn but movie factory is a simpler program for just captureing several files and burning.
