large file size when importing small video clips into Sonic MyDVD

hi all,

this is my first post here and i was wondering if someone could explain why the files i import into Sonic MyDVD are so large when i look at them in the file broser they are no larger than 40mb. i cant even fit 3 onto a dvd. i imagine that they have a codec or some sort of conversion that goes on, but how do i make it so i can fit more than two video clips on each dvd. i cant seem to find any settings and am wondering. does the dvd burning program have to enlarge the program that much and if so, what exactly is it doing and how can i modify it to retain reletively similar quality while packing more into the dvd? thanks everybody,

The video is converted to another video format so the source file size does not matter. Only the total runtime is important. How many minutes do you want to store on a dvd?

And use something else than mydvd where you have better control over the output size. You can try Tmpgenc dvd author 3. Or if you don't neeed any fancy menus you can use ConvertXtoDVD and store more minutes/dvd.

Depending on the version (not mentioned) and the audio type (not mentioned) and whether or not it is muxed (not mentioned) Sonic will convert the audio into PCM Wave, which is dramatically larger.

Video is also required to be DVD compliant or it will be re-encoded. If you are importing AVI into Sonic, stop, start reading, and get different software.
