When i import a avi into VD(Virtualdub) i get a message saying that there is 6110ms (example with made in manhatten) of skew. So i carryed on as normal and found thats the audio is VERY out of sync when i did a sample tmpenc encode. Are there any tutorials ior guides dealing with XVid. I mean does the 6110 skew mean that the audio is 6s out if so where do i put the 6s to i stretch the audio file an extra 6 sec or put it in the middle of begining please HELP! (im going XVid to DVD)

Get VDub-MP3 from the Tools section, load your file, audio-full processing mode, compression-no compression, conversion-48KHz (DVD), save wav.
Alternatively you can use Goldwave, load your AVI,save.

right usually i'd just rip the audio from the avi as a wav then import it into tmpenc thingi with the avi and make an mpg but now i need to be ripping the audio to an mp3? then convert it to wav

No, if you get a VBR warning then your audio is already MP3 encoded using variable bitrate (VBR). Regular Vdub can't handle the conversion to wav, Vdub-MP3 can. Just use Vdub-MP3 for the avi to wav conversion.
