Thank's for the reply, but i can't open the computer case since i haven't bought it yet. My biggest concern is that i can't apply the DVD bitsetting to it to make it beleive it's a DVD-ROM. Until i know this i will wait to buy it.

I also have the Dell Dimension 8250. The DVD +R/RW is a NEC1100A DVD burner.

OEMs will buy from ANY vendor as long as the spec is the same as what they need. You can never tell so don't bother.

  8. As Forrest Gump said"you never know what you're gonna get"until you get the PC out of the box.Dell catalogs never specify who makes their drives(Gateway also).

  9. Dell ships a NEC DVD+R/RW or a Philips which is actually a Ricoh MP5125A.
