I am wondering what methods some of you experts out there have about a movie I want to put on one DVD-R. Das boot is a double sided single layer DVD with approx. 1/2 the movie on side a and the other 1/2 on side B. Each side has its own menu and 4 languages etc. etc. What I want is to just have the movie with English language and no subs and make sure the 2nd half of movie starts right after 1st without any skip or hesitation. I am not that great with Ifoedit but I think I should be able to do it there with someones help. Once it is a continuous stream I will re-encode. What I was thinking of trying was re-encoding first and just use simple Ulead moviefactory to import files or Spruce up. Not sure if they accept vobs though.

Any help before I start playing would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

Das boot has all the vobs as ID 1. Side A and B so I just tryed moving the files from side B to A after I renamed them from vob1-4 to eob6-9. Ifo is creating new file now and will update if works or not or if I need to run that intermediate step as shown on above link.

Well just renaming the files and moving did not work. A new file was created with ifoedit and it looked right but when it got to the end of chapter 35 which is the end of disc 1 it started back to the beginning of movie. Not sure why so I am trying the link that was given above with vobedit. The difference with Dasboot is that it is all vob ID 1.....side a and b are both id 1 throughout. So the side b part I will merge and use id 1 and see what happens even though in the guide it says to go to 1 number higher.

    Any other thoughts?

  5. I would defineately go for 2 DVD-R's if I were you... If you have a double-sided DVD, it's the same as having two separate DVD-5's, and there is no way you can move the vobs, they are authored as separate DVD's. If you want that movie on one DVD-R you will have to reencode and reauthor the DVD.
I also know Das Boot is like 3h20min, and I think that is a bit to much to fit on a single DVD-R...

I used the method given by Marco33 and uped the id # and now seems to have worked.....I transcoded with DVD2One but never had time to check quality.....if need be and the quality is suffering I will try CCE and if still does not look good I will do 2 discs but as a note:

even though the movie is 3.5 hrs...it does not look that great to begin with on the DVD. After I stipped out the extra languages and subs I was left with around 6.5GB which is not so bad to 4.37GB.

I will take a look at kevlar69 link and see differences.

    Thanks

  8. Surely Das Boot would be no good "..with English language and no subs .."
