Is there a real risk of damaging my CD-RW when ripping a DVD to my hdd?

    Thanks

  2. Other than normal wear-and-tear on the motor that spins the drive, no I would not think so.

Can't see why you'd bother using a CDRW to rip a DVD since you need a DVD drive to read DVDs... if you really meant a DVD-RW drive then you're fine (except for wear and tear as ptmurphy said)

  6. unless you are using a program (or telling) your software to rip and convert without storing the vobs on your hard drive. If it converts straight off the dvd, and the drive is kept spinning for 3,5 or 9 hours then I would expect problems.
