  1. I have achieved perfection- no, better then perfection- DVD burn using only a few simple programs. Been working on conversions/DVD author/burning for two months now. Found the solution. Screw ulead dvdmf2 and dvd maestro. The way to go is ifoedit and nero. I don't care about menus and fancy shite like that. Here it is from the start:

    1) scan for bad frames in vdub mp3- delete frames (see "how to...")
    2) extract audio in vdub- no compression PCM, 48KHz, save .wav
    3) FRAMESERVE to tmpgenc- follow hi-resolution dvd guide (search this website for link) for your settings- ES Video ONLY, tmpgenc will fock your audio
    - if you have a progressive scan dvd player and your source is 23.976 fps, DO NOT convert to 29.97 fps- keep framerate same and use 3:2 pulldown on playback as encode mode- results are superior to 29.97/ interlace

    4) convert .wav audio to AC3 with BeSweet (see "how to...")
    5) author DVD using ifoedit (see "how to...")
    6) burn VIDEO_TS files using nero (again see "how to...") (I have Sony DRU500 burner)

Now of course depending on what file type/framerate/resolution/etc. your source is, you may have to adjust your settings (search site for help), but these are the only programs I used and my burns are turning out amazing. Ifoedit and nero are simple to use and work perfectly (for me). The other authoring/burning programs I've tried screw your audio and chop your video into blocks. In fact I will go ahead and say that dvdmf2 is worthless. At least to me. Screwed up every time I've used it. I don't mess with menus and crap. Keep simple and your results will be better when authoring/burning. Use the guides on this website and you should be good to go. Thanks to all who posted guides and solutions.

  5. New to DVD authoring here: IFOEdit only does one video piece at a time, right? If you have two one-hour video and want to put both on one DVD-R, you will have to combine the two into one first and then author the combined video with IFOEdit. Is that correct? In MF2, you can author two separate video pieces together and burn vobs on to one DVD-R.

  6. ifoedit only does one piece of video at a time (as far as I know, unless there is some other setting). you can join your files (can use vdub, see "how to...") then author them in ifoedit.
dvdmf2 has only caused problems for me. that is why i don't use it. if you get good results, then using that is probably better than ifoedit.
