  1. hi

    i have got a avi file that has a unknown audio stream and i carnt convert it i load the avi in to virtualdub and i carnt change to full prosessing mode becuase virtualdub carnt read it so i just direct copy and save as .wav
    its plays as a .wav but when i try to rencode it i get error that its not a valid .wav file i have change the extention to load .ac3 . mp1.mp2.mpeg.raw.pcm.mp3.voxmpc.and wma
    but know seam to work and i just get a load off screeming if it does encode at all i used avinfo to see if it will tell the audio format but no all it says is unknown .wav format
    i need to do this audio thing so i can comprees it on to 1 cd it is on 2 at the mo.

  2. Open the file in Vdub. In file information, if the audio is unknown then it is .ac3. Use this guide for converting .ac3:

  3. ok well i have already tried that m8 and headac3 says its not a ac3 file or it is corupt now what???

  4. Direct copy it to wav and open it in Nero Wave Editor and save it as PCM wave file.
    That worked for me

  7. Maybe you downloaded one of those RIAA bogus files or it was corrupted?

  9. Did you rename the file extention from .wav to .ac3? Also another way to extract the audio is to use Avimux. That should give you your .ac3 file. The try Headac3e.

    I had the same problem with a downloaded Divx file - solution was to to use VirtualDub to extract the .WAV - then rename the audio file from .WAV to .AC3 - and finally run it through AC3Fix.

    AC3Fix reported no errors but must have cleaned up the header.

    All are available through the tools section of this site...
