I have an mkv file that I want to demux and make into a dual audio DVD with subtitles. However I load the video into vdub mod and go to streams. I select full processing and compression, no formats are available (happens when there isnt an available decompressor).

Audio description as appears in Vdub.

    Code:
    Source : Matroska file
       Desc : Audio Stream 1 [tag 0x0000, Unknown Wave Format], ID [A_AAC/MPEG2/LC/SBR], 6ch, 22050Hz, 166.6kbps
    Length : 00:25:03:129
There are 2 streams with the similar info (tags are different naturaly).

When I play it in core media it plays fine, audio shows up as dolby digital 5.1.

Is there a program I can use to demux the files from the video into an Ac3 or something?

Try demux with mkvextractgui instead. And then convert it to ac3 with daudiok, belight, etc if it's not already ac3.

OK MKV extractor worked, but I get a runtime error 6 overflow when I try to convert the aac to ac3 with DAudioK.

Ill try belight and see if there is any diff.

Besweet/belight didnt work either. Log reports the track length as 00:00:00:00

Can you play the .AAC file normally ? Whoops, I just re-read your first post.

Yup, I noticed how few apps out there can deal with 5.1 (6ch) AAC.

FAAD will work properly to convert it to WAV, then you can Aften it.

Rename your aac file to AUDIO.AAC and try the following:

    aac2wav2ac3.rar

I recall reading somewhere that aften is smart enough to do the proper channel remapping on this type of material.

Well i cant do anything with it like it is anyway, I cant even convert it to AVI to put on my mp3 player so i guess Ill have to try whatever I can 8)

Ill try your suggestion and post back.

EDIT: How do I use the Faad.exe command line? (there a gui available? :P )

Urg I hate MKV, why cant pepple just stick to common codecs! its annoying! lol

I'm pretty sure a program called wavepad can open aac files and save them to wave.

Yeah I know, I have my PC connected to my TV and my stereo (350watts 2ch stereo from the 80s) and that is typicaly how I watch my videos, but I would like it on a DVD so I can play it in my portable unit. Carrying my laptop everywhere isnt always the easiest thing.

Okay, Wavepad worked for saving to wave, Though I didnt see whether it saved all 6 audio channels.

Download the RAR file I posted above

The .Bat file will convert audio.aac to WAV, then it automatically encodes the WAV to 5.1 AC3
