  1. Hi everybody,

I tried to burn a DVD+R media with my sony DRU500A but it doesn't even recognize the blank disc when inserted. BTW I already burned dozens of DVD-R media from various brand... The DVD+R media is a DataTrack DVD+R General (seems to be made in Germany using a MAKROLON plastic from Bayer) and come in an individual DVD box (buyed in Belgium). No ADV info as my writer doesn't even read it.

Any experience with the same media ?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Titi

Had similar problems with Verbatim DVD+R and Princo DVD-R media. The Princo would not be recognized and Nero failed after a minute that the drive appeared dead. Verbatim would burn but not finalize and destroyed the disks. I destroyed 3 of them and then decided to upgrade the f/w. I found out the SONY had a "d" f/w version and the latest was "g".

Following the upgrade, the princo are recognized. I tried to simulate burning and it failed. Won't try burning yet.
With the Verbatim, things are chaotic. Simulating succeeds, but the disk is recorded as well. Have done 3 Verbatim DVD+R disks this way since then, all perfect. Will not attempt to burn the Verbatims. I will keep simulating the recording to make sure I get perfect recordings. Perhaps I also need to upgrade Nero (recently downgraded it from 5.5.10.0 to 5.5.9.14 to be able to record DVD. Version 5.5.10.7b is supposed to correct 5.5.10.0
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
