which would you pick, quality-wise?

I have the Leadtek 2000XP so can comment on that one. Qualitywise, I have found it to be excellent. It gives you every choice of codec you have on your computer to capture in and lets you customize everything from resolution to color correction. I do not have the Avermedia so I cannot really compare the two, but give the Leadtek my recommendations as it has excellent capture quality and TV/FM tuner quality, and lets you manually adjust everything.

I've have the AveryMedia Studio and love it. I recently purchased it for a very decent price. I run XP and have had no major problems. This is my first capture card, and it does everything it promises.
I did research all the TV capture cards, mainly using the "Top Rated" Caputre Cards option at this site. It proved very helpful. I made my decision based on price and functions. AveryMedia's Studio was the best priced for what you get, and it is "rated" pretty high.
PS: I've never used the Leadtek 2000XP so, my opinion is one sided.-Lineber -

But in short, yes the Leadtek does output stereo audio signals. -

(That was a surprisingly fast reply!) -
Yes the Leadtek works the same way....it comes with a 1/8" mini patch cable that passes the signal to the audio in on your sound card.
the 'what you hear' is just a setting on my SB Live sound card that I had to have selected to finally get my caputures to record in stereo....it was wierd cause selecting the audio in on my sound card only captured in mono...just a quark of my sound card really, not the Leadtek. -
all right thanks, maybe I'll get the card soon.
... or I might wait for the "Expert" version that is coming soon (though I'm not sure what's special about it yet) -
I just got the LeadTek today.
I have a problem with the recording -- the recorded audio volume level is very low compared to the original playback. Changing the 'recording volume' setting doesn't seem to help. Anyone else has this problem, or is it just my old soundcard? -
Do you know if this card will be a lifesaver to my problems:
