  1. I've tried about 10 times to make DVD out of an already extracted DVD movie in .avi format. Here's the movie specs:

    Video Codec: DVD-R
    Video Bitrate: ~817 kbps
    Audio Codec: MP3 VBR 2Ch
    Audio Bitrate: 136kbps 48kHz
    Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1
    Resolution: 608x256
    Frame Rate: 23.976 fps

    I followed the guides to a "T"....

First, I use TMPGEnc to encode. Unlike the version used in the guide, my version of TMPGEnc has more NTSC options. So I selected NTSC 16:9. Also, I wasn't sure which sound to use, CBR Linear PCM Audio, or MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2). I tried both.

I also tried separating the sound, but got an error with VirtualDub, but I got an error. I then used AVI2WAV, which work, but provided nothing but fuzz in the completed DVD.

After TMPGEnc, I used IFOEdit to build the VOB files and such, then different assorted programs to burn (Nero 1.05 method, 1.02 method, and InstantCD+DVD).

The end result is always the same. Stuttering audio on my standalone DVD player (Sony DVP-NS715P, which plays anything I throw at it) with the second counter skipping around a bit. If I try it on my home computer, I get perfect sound, but the picture is too fast, probably almost around 2x.

    What am I doing wrong???

  2. Well, after countless hours of frustration, I finally got it to run smooth on both standalone and computer.

When converting files for SVCD from DivX and such, I always used VirtualDub to separate the audio. When I tried it this time, I got an error message saying there was no available decompressor. I read some more in the convert guide, and it said separating was usually only necessary if the source was DivX, XviD, asf or SMR. What I didn't realize, was I had an XviD file. That was a totally new format to me.

To get VirtualDub to stop giving me that error message, I installed the XviD codec using the NimoCodec pac.

After that, I used TMPGEnc, and the Ulead DVD MovieFactory 1.2 Demo to burn the disc.

    Works perfect! :P

i'm having the same problems you originally did, and i have my xvid codec installed, and i'm using virtualdub 1.3d. when i go to save my wav file, i get 2 errors:

"ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format"
    and
    "AVIOutputWAV: The handle is invalid"

can you tell me your version and settings in audio?
