  1. Hello I am a switcher to the mac platform and I imported a movie to imovie 3. I saved it as VCD for toast but the quality was horrible. Anyone know how I can get a better quality VCD? I have tried some tools, like ffmpeg, and missingmpegtools, but everytome I try to do it, a terminal window pops up and I get know where. I just want something that works ...thanks

  2. make a svcd if your dvd player can handle it.

if its analog footage that you imported from digital cam. then this is the best way to go in my opinion. i tried everything nobody else has an answer!

remember its not going to be better then your analog video it will be a bit worse cause its compressed like 10 times as much lol

    try it

you can make a vcd with this process aswell...

The terminal window pops up cause it starts to encode the video in that. just takes forever if your running a slow mechine, let it do its job youll have an mpg.

Use ffmpegX to convert to VCD format (with the presets menu at the bottom). This gives you vastly superior quality to Toast's terrible, terrible VCD encoder component for QuickTime.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
