    I would like to request help on how to change
    a video in vcd format to mp3.

    You cant convert video to mp3. What you might mean is converting the video to divx (video + audio). Or ripping the sound from a vcd, and converting only the sound to mp3 format. Please be more specific, and make more sense when asking your question.

    Convert the VCD .dat file to .mpg with VCDGear, demultiplex the .mpg with TMPG. Convert the .mp2 to .mp3 with LAME, maybe you have to create a temporary .wav file, this can be done with TMPG.

    VCDGear converts VCD .dat files to .mpg
    VirtualDub converts MPEG-1 files to AVI. If you want DivX, you need to install a DivX codec.

    can u suggest me other tools beside vcdgear cause i cant seem to open the file after i downloaded it... and it's like 100k file only.. when i execute it.. a dos promt came out.. then it automatically exit after 1 sec!

    just use tempge to demultiplex then use a sound editer to convert to mp3

    pillowman, there is also a VCDgearGUI available. You don't need to work with the command line console.

  13. to open a ms-dos program in windows, you can't just double click the file (that's what guis are for )...

    at the startmenu->run type: command

    from this new ms-dos window u navigate to where your program is located, and simply type its name (*.exe)
