I'm new to vcd's but have learned enough to try and burn my own. I'm using nero, selecting vcd, opening my avi and letting nero do the rest. What happened was that I was burning a movie that was in a letterbox format, after burning it I went to play it on my dvd and the picture was streched to fit my tv screen. The people looked tall and skinny, I guess I goofed somewhere along the line. I went back and checked to see if there were any setting that I overlooked in nero but I didn't find anything that would change the picture format. Any ideas of where I sould be looking? I did a search in this forum but was unable to come across anything simular.

i whouldnt use nero as an encoder.
you will get much better resoltes with tmpeg.
and you will be able to play around with the aspect ratio, so you will not have the problem you are having anymore.
and i dont think your avi was letterboxed, i think they just cut off the black bars.
your player adds the letterboxing when you play the movie.
nero probably encoded the movie as it realy is - without the black bars
so you see the wrong aspect ratio.HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -
thanks heavensent
any recomendations on which version of tmpgenc I should use?
