When i am playing some of my movies on vlc it have couple of audio device i.e. 5.1, 2 front 2 rear, stereo and mono.

Now how can i fix it to play on 5.1 only???

    and now for another issue.

i want to convert the file (mkv or avi) to dvd, avi or mkv format but keeping only 5.1 entact and removing the rest.

i have tried mkvextract but it dont have option to choose which audio device to keep. neither in vlc convert itself.

    and suggestion.

i will be using convertxtodvd, does it have the option to choose from the device???

Use mkvmergegui to remove audio tracks in the mkv, save as a new mkv. But I think you can choose audio track in convertxtodvd also.

they isnt 2 audio tracks only one audio track, but with the option to have 5.1 or 2 front 2 rear or stereo or mono.
    vlc.
    then play a movie
    right clip in audio
than 3 option "audio track" , "audio channel" and "audio device"
click on audio device it shows these option for some of the movies.

i need to extract 5.1 only and leave the rest as the audio in conversion will normally choose stereo in convertxtodvd

    let me rephrase it.
    for example.:
    xyz.mkv (movie name)

This movie have one audio track only i.e English.

but have the option to listen in 5.1 channel or 2.1 channel (2 front and 2 rear), stereo or mono mode. But still have one audio track.

Now when i open vlc player.
i can see these option under audio-> audio device.

Now i want to convert this file into dvd format. But i want to keep 5.1 channel only. before i burn it on dvd.
now is they a way to save 5.1 only and not the rest
