  1. Hi all,

I've used VLC Player for a couple years now and loved it until recently. I generally play videos and audio from an external HDD. However, now the counter seems to have a glitch. Through the duration of the clip, the bar does not move at all and when I try to manually skip ahead, it starts over again. Does anyone know how to fix this? Like I said, I've been doing this for some time now without problems, that is until now.

    Thanks, GK

Is this on all videos, or on some. If it is just some, I would check the index on the file (for most formats loading it into AVI Demux will tell you if the index is broken, and offer to fix it). If it is all videos then it is certainly a wdier issue. Perhaps try an alternative like the KM Player.

  3. All of them (mp3, FLV, avi, divx, etc...) on the external drive. All these file types work fine on the PC HDD. The strangest part is that it worked on every file on the external one day, and none the next. So it seems as if a setting got changed somewhere, but I have no idea where and/or how to change it back.

I'll check out the KM Player in the meantime. THanks!

You could uninstall VLC, then reinstall, making sure that you check the box to delete the old preferences during the reinstall. Sometimes that's the easiest way to set everything back to normal.
