  1. Is there anyway of setting a VCD as 16:9 DAR? What I'm trying to do is let the player automatically switch the aspect ratio on the fly, but it's not working.

  2. MPEG Sequence Maker can do it!

You need to demux your MPEG to the elementrary video and audio streams first.

Load the elementary video with MPEG Sequence Maker. Go and change the options --> aspect ratio.

Save your new elementary video file.

Remux your new video and old audio together.

Remember, not all (probably few) players respect the 16:9 DAR flag for VCDs... But give it a go.

  4. OK, so I've demuxed my file, I've changed the aspect ratio in MPEG Sequence Maker (I've chosen 16:9, NTSC) since my sample is 16:9, and I've multiplexed it.

The aspect ratio remained the same.

I'm using PowerDVD to view the clip. I have yet to try it on my player. I'm thinking that maybe I missed something, but I don't think so.

  5. If you load the newly saved elementary video file back into MPEG Sequence Maker, what does it say that the aspect ratio is?

Perhaps you can't use it for this after all...
