I want to rip my DVD to a high quality file (preferibly something that can be played back from Windows Media Player, like an AVI.) File size is not a concern. You see I use Media Edition For my Os and if I can Create a high quality AVI I will be able to choose movies from the menu driven interface that looks in a special directory on the hard drive.
As I said file size is not an issue. I just want to get the best quality and use the correct tools. Any suggestions?

If you just want to play it on your PC divx can offer very good compression whilst maintaining excellent quality.
