Hi all.
Backupping a DVD that looks fine on TV but completely "slashed/sliced" (interlace) on the computer monitor. Thing is, after encoding it to SVCD, it looks that bad on the TV aswell!?
Tried the following settings on ffmpegx, all to no avail:
Deinterlace before encoding CHECKED + Not interlaced
Deinterlace before encoding CHECKED + Frame
Deinterlace before encoding CHECKED + Field
Deinterlace before encoding UNCHECKED + Not interlaced
Deinterlace before encoding UNCHECKED + Frame
Deinterlace before encoding UNCHECKED + Field
Running out of ideas, and feeling very desperate in backing this one up (expensive Import disc I really don't want to be without)
Thankful forany input,
/Wizeman

I am having the some problem, copying to DVD-R. I think the only solution might be swapping fields. MPEG2 video for TV should be Upper Field First, but many sources have Bottom Field First as interlace method. You should swap mode to upper field first, but I haven't yet been able to get good results. You can try... let me know then!
