  1. Hi there,

I'm looking for a DVD player which can play DVDs from all regions, or a way to make a DVD player to be able to play DVDs from all regions.
    Thanks

  2. Try Koss DVP-2161 (12V, need firmware hack) or Daewoo DVD-5800 (remote control hack,110V or 220V). I tested both in US (110V) with Region 1 (NTSC), Region 2 (PAL) and Region All (PAL) DVDs on NTSC TV. For more info look into "DVD Players" section here.

  4. These are the currently available players I know of that can be made region free using only the remote:

    CyberHome DVD-402 - $70
    CyberHome DVD-500 (Progressive Scan) - $80

    Daewoo DVD-5800 - $80

    Norcent DP-300 - $80

There are other brands and models that can be made region free and even Macrovision free, but they require creating a CD that reprograms the player.

  5. get an apex (I use the 1500) and burn a CD to remove the region restriction (if you do a search here you should find the web site that has the images to d/l, they are only a few kb if I remember)

pop in the CD, and it runs itself.

Don't you need to make your DVD-ROM region free for this ?

  7. For the Apex and other players, see www.nerd-out.com

  8. I mean, why copy DVD to CD when you can have DVD-Player that plays all DVDs. Too much work and worst final quality.

  9. No the Apex-1500 becomes region-free (and macrovision-free) by changing the firmware. This firmware "upgrade" is made by making a CD-R which contains the hacked firmware. This is explained on www.nerd-out.com

Others players have region free remote hacks. For example, the Philipps DVD-724 has a region-free remote hack.

  11. Sir, you are misunderstanding both myself and yg1968 (who does understand what I am saying, by the way.)

If you go to nerd-out, like he said, you'll see the hack I'm talking about.

    1) you d/l an image.

    2) you burn the image to CD

    3) you pop it into your APEX 1500

    4) it runs

    5) your APEX 1500 is now region free for all disc types, DVD, VCD, SVCD, whatever.

  12. Got a GE 5803P, 3 DVD changer. Got it for 100$ or so. Region free, macrovision free too. Lots of players do that... Mostly all shinco clones.
