  1. Now that we have a solution to get 5.1 and DTS sound out of our Mac's with this little thing:

Called Midiman Sonica, are there any ways of making a SVCD os XSVCD with 5.1 sound in it, or is the only solution divx or avi?

For one thing: when reading the specs, you'll find, that this widget has no AC3 or DTS decoding of it's own (only sort of simulator). For full AC3/DTS enjoyment, you'll need an additional receiver/decoder.Only digital output/pass through of AC3/DTS is provided.
(This is a pity, 'cause I'm looking for such a device: just AC3/DTC decoding without amp)

  3. Of course. I didn't expect a 89$ device have speaker output.
For a long time we didn't have any alternative to using a PC as a HTPC.
And it is no "emulation" at all involved, it just takes the encoded signal from the movie and transmits it over a optical link to your reciver.
I have learned that it is allways best to decode the signal in the reciever, not in the DVD player or HTPC for that matter either.
