Hi everyone,
I occasionally use my computer as a VCR. Up til know I always convert my captured AVI's to VCD, burn them to a CD and then put it in my stationary DVD player to watch it in my livingroom (about 30 meters away from my PC). I would like to skip the convert/burn portion by watching the AVIs directly and then simply delete them afterwards.
Question1: Should I use the TV-out on my Geforce2MX video card and then transfer the picture by cable or air. OR Should I go for one more PC in my living room and connect it to the other one using a normal home network?
Question2: If I go for alternative one. How do I solve the keyboard and mouse issue?
Any feedback would be most appreciated. Maybe you can guide me to a good forum or webpage.
THANKS!
/Nicklas

Wireless network bandwidth is not sufficient for viewing films over a network connection. Maybe a 100Mbit network has enough bandwidth.
Extending video out might do the trick but 30 meters is quite a stretch.
Maybe you can install a PC in the living room. You can use a wireless keyboard and mouse like the ones Logitech sells. Equip this with a network interface to download the movie prior to viewing.
A more professional solution are boxes that convert TV signal to something that can be transported over network cabling. Some Hotels use this for an internal "cable TV" system.

Willem
