trying to fit a DVD-9 (double layer) to a DVD-5 using DVD shrink, but after DVD Shrink has processed about a third of the DVD-9, DVD Shrink says it can't continue because there isn't enough memory storage. My local disc has almost 400GB of room on it, the file that DVDShrink is trying to create is shown as less than a regular DVD (4.6GB). So I don't understand why I'm getting this message.

Did you rip with DVDShrink? If so that might be your problem. DVDShrink doesn't understand some modern anti-copy methods and one of those methods makes the original disc look like it holds significantly more data than it really does. Use DVDFab for ripping.

You appear have been right about DVD Shrink being seemingly being able to process some DVDs. I "ripped" the double layer DVD with DVD Decrypter first, then opened the image it created in DVD Shrink, then had DVDDecryper burn the image DVD Shrink created to disc. IN sampling the disc that was created, it seems to be a perfect clone of the original (which was on a double layer disc,) on a regular sized DVD.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

  4. Good that it worked for you. But as jman said, the problem was probably a newer protection that DVDShrink couldn't handle. Note that DVDDecrypter hasn't been updated for years either. Use DVDFabDecrypter instead for ripping, then open with DVDShrink if that's what you want to compress with.

I'd bet on there being numerous bogus cells in that DVD, which will cause the memory error in DVDShrink.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
