  1. ok i just bought this samsung c621 dvd player and i'm pretty happy with it however there's some issues that i have and if anyone can help me, that'd be great!

    1. resume doesn't seem to work well with SVCD/VCD. If i stop the playback, then resume the playback, the audio comes, but the screen has a garbaled image and the video freezes, how can i fix this, do i burn the discs differently? is there a firmware update??

    2. is there anyway to create SVCD chapters like dvds have without disturbing the playback of the disk? cause if the svcd is stopped and u wanna get to a good part in the middle of the disc u have to FF all the way there! i wanna make like chapters in the SVCD so that when u watch the SVCD, it's like a long continous play, just like dvds have, is there anyway to do that???

    Thanks for replying,
    got the samsung c621

    1) just sounds like a limitation of your dvd player. When you play a movie the data that is read off the disk goes into a buffer. Most hardware devices have something similar to this, basically just a slight delay which gives the hardware a little room to work with. It's similar to how a car cd player prevents skips. When you resume from a pause my guess is that the buffer is empty, and different dvd players will react differently to this. A firmware upgrade possibly might help but I seriously doubt this specific problem was addressed in a firmware upgrade. I don't think there is really anything different that you can do to prevent this.

    2) Vcds and SVCDs support entrypoint chapters. The easiest way to implement these into your disks is with vcdeasy. With these you can set chapter points and jump directly to them using the # keys or switch forward and backward between them using the next and prev track keys. If you wish you can also create a chapter selection menu where you can access each chapter directly. All of this can be done with vcdeasy as well as with several other commercial vcd/svcd authoring programs. BTW vcdeasy is free and you can find it in the tools section of this site.
