is there any way, or any software that will let you resume an interrupted lightscribe burn??? a couple of times my lightscribe application has crashed like 1/2way thru, and I start it over, but it starts from the beginning again, resulting in 1/2 the label being darker....any way to resume it from where it left off when it crashed?? just curious cuz lightscribe discs arent dirt cheap, and they look really crappy when that happens...

no but writing over the whole thing a third time might even it out.

You may also want to investigate why the software is crashing.

ya I dunno...I dont remember the exact error msg but it says to rstart ur comp. so I do and then it burns fine...I dunno....but I formatted that comp anyway...I'm selling it to buy a bit cheaper one..and keep the xtrra dough to pay bills.....
I love lightscribe though...so I'll have to get another hp...even though I dont really like hp... I bought a computer in nov of 06 (the one I am selling) and 6 months later the mobo completely failed and had to be replaced....something tells me thats not quality production...
are any other companies going to start using lightscribe do you think (like dell), or does hp own that technology??
I've heard of something called label flash, but I know the blank discs are like twice the price, and they are blue...I've heard they are kind of hologramish...anyone tried labelflash...what companies are making computers w/ it?? -
you can buy an add-on lightscribe burner for about $30. i have one from lite-on and one from asus. both work fine. labelflash discs are really hard to come by and more expensive, not many drives in the u.s. can burn them either. i have one pioneer reflashed to a japanese buffalo burner that can but it doesn't get used much for labelflash.

what do you mean by add-on? you mean all it does is lightscribe labels?? external or internal? because I'm an IT major, but I'm more software oriented, and have not had much expereince w/ installing cd drives....could you elaborate and tell me where I could purchase these?? cuz if I could get a dell instead of an hp and just buy one of these that would be cool...

i mean you can buy the drive and add it to almost any tower type computer. they come with sata or ide connections and you just install them in an empty drive bay or replace what came with the comp.
like these.

ya I know how to add a drive to a desktop....except I have a laptop...do they make ones for laptops...or better yet....external ones??
-
yes they make both, but the internals are hard to match with curved faceplates. externals here -
