  1. I have several VOB files that are in PAL format. I want to convert them to ntsc. I've separated these into their m2v and ac3 streams. From what i've read, the best way to convert them to ntsc is by TMPGEnc. However, this would make them into an mpeg file. So, if this is converted then is the ac3 info retained in the mpeg file? I'm using Spruceup to make my dvd, so if I import the now ntsc mpeg file and burn the dvd, will the sound still be in DD5.1?

Otherwise, what is the best way to convert a PAL .VOB file to an NTSC file to be imported into Spruceup?

  2. the .m2v file you have is a mpeg-2 video only file. If you open these in Tmpgenc, select the appropriate template and settings, then select video only, Tmpgenc will output an m2v file encoded as NTSC. You can then use this in spruceup with your AC3 files for the audio. To do this, encode as 23.97fps and set 3:2 pulldown to get 29.97fps otherwise the video will look very jerky. You may get audio sync problems also.
