    when i rip a 2.35:1 dvd, is there any way to stop it from looking stretched ?

    do you mean stretched vertically or stretched horizontally?

    or do you want to turn widescreen movie into fullscreen?

    Rip it at 16:9 and not 2.35:1 and it will work fine

    not always..there are 4:3 widescreens too (i believe nonanamorphic ones)
