  1. I have a Sony TRV320 Digital8. I transferred some video information with MovieXone via 1394. I can't open the transferred file with VirtualDub - error says "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)". I used the program GSpot to try to identify the file, GSpot says the video is
    FourCC dvsd
    Codec Sony Digital Video (DV)
    Vendor Sony
    Status COdec NOT Installed
    Aspect 720x480 (1.500:1)
I have reasonable faith in this information - the sequence was identified as 9 seconds and that is what the length is.

So, is there a Sony codec I can find and download? The Sony web page was not a lot of help. One post had a kinda simular problem - suggested fix was to use a Panasonic codec - but no posts were listed after that on results.

My goal is to make a GOOD quality SVCD of my home movies. I've made plenty of poor quality ones so far.

    Thanks for reading this post.

You need a VFW (video for windows) codec. Try

I use the Panasonic one with Vdub, but that doesn't mean that the others won't also work. If I were you, I would download them all
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
