Have you tried re-installing DirectX and the ASPI Layer.

I run XP and DVDx runs great once I install the ASPI.

  4. I just installed DVDx, ASPI 32bit, and the Pioneer plugin. DVDx works fine until just before it starts to encode, then my pooter shutsdown??
I gave up trying to fix it. Installed SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, and TMPEG. But, I"m not very happy with the quality, maybe I should up the bitrate..of course I'm a total noob to all of this. But, i'd like to see DVDx work, and play with that as well.

    thanks in advance.

This happened to me when I tried to encode a movie and I had the "Shutdown the computer when job is done option" selected. I got an error message, then the computer just shut down.
If you have the shutdown option enabled, try disabling it.
