    i've been trying to convert a movie from divx to mpg so i can make a vcd but each time i try the picture quality is fine but theres no sound - can anyone helpme???

    From the Newbie Guides:
    If you get audio errors, out of sync problems or bad audio or no audio at all
    Try to convert the audio to wav before converting.

    use virtualdub to extract and convert the audio to a wav file from your divx file then use tmpgenc to encode to mpeg
