  1. problem1.
    recently, i downloaded this file,
    (uNi)-8.Legged.Freaks.Unsubbed.PROPER.TS.VCD-XV2.wmv

someone said i have to convert it to *.avi before burning.
Yes i did with asftool1.3, but the final product does not play on my computer. (uNi)-8.Legged.Freaks.Unsubbed.PROPER.TS.VCD-XV2.avi
It crashes my Media Player and DivX Player and memory shoots up to 100%.
    Anyhelp?

    problem2.
i tried converting wmv -> avi and playing the result on a media player.
sometimes they prompt me, audio error , or maybe codec needed.
    how do i solve this?

If I were you I'd forget about it. Because the title has "VCD" in it, I would assume it was once a VCD spec MPG file and then someone converted it to WMV. It may be a lost cause, but if you really want to use it, you could try taking the converted AVI and open it in VirtualDub and save the audio as a WAV file. Then use TMPGenc to combine both the AVI and the new WAV audio into an MPG.

TMPGEnc will conver WMV, just like any other MPEG 4, if there are no problems with the file this should work just fine.

If you want to convert it to AVI, Graphedit is very good at this, see one of my posts for settings.

You wont load a WMV into Vdub, you need V1.3C for this to load, but even then it wont do a good job like Grahedit, would. But try it with TMPGEnc first.

  5. king is right... u need an older version of virtualdub... i use vdub 1.2a [google search for 1.2 or 1.3] it wont be an easy find...but its out there... nothing in life is easy...as u can see with video conversions. then like my man said... open file... under VIDEO select Direct Stream Copy... under AUDIO Full Stream Processing... then AUDIO under Conversion...make sure its 44.1 audio...if not select it... and its a good idea if u change frequency ..to change the other options in that window from No Change to 16 bit and Stereo. then under Compression select PCM 44.1 16bit stereo..
under File ...Save to AVI ... im assuming u creating a VCD compliant file to burn to CD. anywayz now its ready for your mpeg encoder... once encoded... test its compliancy with newer version of nero in there VCD template.. it will let u know if its ok before u burn..plus its a great burner software. thats how i did my .asf --> vcd. good luck. but why wmv to divx? u did mention burning... vcd has a much wider compatiblity with other machines. piece
