I will ASSume this is a DivX AVI. Have you verified all the Audio and Video is okay in the video through a viewer program? Check that out to make sure everything is okay. If this is a DivX encoded AVI you may want to try running DiVFix on the file just in case any errors introduced during download are fixed (may not work but worth a shot).
Now try encoding to MPEG again.
Before converting to MPEG you may want to try creating a new, uncompressed AVI via Virtual Dub and using that as your source for MPEG encoding.
I hope that helps. -
Try the info here = http://screw.wz.cz/avidef/AVIDeFreezer%20Tutorial.htm & then get the program here = http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/ I kept getting a decimal error In TMPGEnc I this program fixed it right up. You will also need VirtualDub to help out = but itz pretty straight forward!!
