I'm running a 2000xp+, 512ddram and 7200 rpm hdd and ReMpeg takes anything between 17-22 hours for a 108 min film. I'm running Xp pro.
I've seen a few posts showing ReMpeg running between 5-7 hours with less spec, so why is mine taking soooooooo long. Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it.
thanks
Raider

I see this complaint and it's always associated with Wndows XP. Rempeg like most "shareware/freeware" was written for Windows 98. Try it in Windows 98.
-
Worked fine for me under XP the couple of times I used it. More than likely it has to do with different settings between users. Maybe different Search Techniques? Prediction is much faster than Full if I remember correctly.

What do you mean with ReMpeg? Reencode an mpg file?
It's impossible for you to take so much time to do that. I myself take an almost real time encoding (2:15H to a 2:00 movie) whith my Athlon Tunderbird 1.2Ghz.
What software are you using to do that? I use TmpEnc.
I also use WindowsXP Pro. -
in rempeg make sure ur using prediction instead of full thats what might be slowing u down.
-
rempeg takes about 4 hours here, also make sure you dont limit max bitrate, it wont go above 9800kbit and i found this slows it down considerably

what is the difference with TMPG and ReMPG????
are they the sameThere is always one who is always greater. Never give up. -
basically rempeg is shite & it takes hours!! I find it easier to rip in the vcd/svcd way then use tmpeg to rip the film using the dvd template (8 hours for a 120 film) then strip out the video & remux it with the ac3 audio in spruce up!! bloody easier & the quality is a damn sight better than rempeg anyway!!

hey raider why don't u try setting the output resolution to 352x480 and use the limit bitrate slider (from what i've read this makes it vbr)...you'll see it encode a lot faster.

Did all of you find out Raider desappeared of this topic. We're wasting our times posting solutions here. He still didn't reply this. He only opened the topic and has gone.
I hate when someone do that. We try to help and those ******* people disappear without even reading our messages. -
@depeche101_Brazil
Keep ya F*****G comments to yaself. I don't expect to answer to every post thats put up. I come back, read the replies give 'em a go and then answer, and then thank the people that have helped. Why did you bother answering the post in the first place, cos you obviously didn't know what the F*** ReMpeg was anyway.

Assuming you keep to your word, you won't answer to this,.......oh, no sorry, u can't can u without including a few obscenities.
Mods/Admins......Please delete or close this thread. I'm still continuing certain settings and advice from the more mature among you -
SO Raider did U get anything sorted out then? Well I hope all the advice that passed over has been atleast some help to U. Happy ripping & goodluck

@P@inkiller,
cheers m8, but to be honest not much luck..??
I've sifted through the posts on this thread, and these are the points I've tried and would like to raise
1) Didn't really want to go back to Win 98, but I appreciate the input, and I thought only 2K and XP were the only OS that handled ntfs files of 2gigs and over for dvd ripping and encoding
2) I've tried umpteen different settings in ReMpeg, but still no luck
3) I've used Prediction mode, but still slow...17-18 hrs
4) I thought the only setting in ReMpeg was 720x480 for dvd compliant
So as you can see m8, still out on a limb, but ain't gonna give in
cheers m8
