i have ripped a dvd with smartripper and want to use the ac3 sound file when i encode it to a smaller dvd using tmpgenc. does anybody know if this can be done. once i have resized the dvd i will use ulead dvd workshop to author and burn.

Yep. Just use TMPGEnc's MPEG tools to multiplex the files back together into an .mpg.
You can then import the .mpg into DVD Workshop and author your DVD. Make sure you check "Do not encode compliant files" before burning the DVD. That way DVDWS won't try to re-encode your finished .mpg. -
cheers mate will give that a go, i take it i need to multiplex it to an mpeg2 file
