Hi,

A friend of mine has a small DV setup which consists of a:

Sony DV camera
Studio DV v7
Iomega Zip CDR

He captures (via firewire) video from the camera (at full DV quality) and then edits as needed then outputs the video as SVCD PAL format (this is a pre-set selection along with VCD, DVD Compatible, Custom, and a few others) then finaly burns it to CD via the latest version of Nero (using the SVCD option).

Everything is fine up to this point, but when the SVCD is played back in a DVD player (computer or standalone) the quality is awful. All the edges a blocky and there is a lack of detail.

The SVCD has been played back in 3 different DVD players with 3 different TVs/monitors and always the same.

The SVCD has also been burned at different speeds, none of it made a difference.

The quality seems worse then VHS, is there something wrong? If so from what I have explained can anyone make some suggestions?

Thanks.
