    I am not sure if this can be done ? I have a VCD format of my video holiday and right now, i am using an Imac.(VCD format extension is .dat)
    In order to use the imovie software, they required for import movie in DV stream format.If i will manage to convert my vcd to DV stream format, i will be able to use imovie software to edit my movie.Can anyone here please help me about this.

    Ok, if you have a full 74 minutes, I warn you that you will have a 36 gig file on your hands...and know that iMovie requires that the movie be broken into 9 min. streams max. So this is how it is done.

    Open the .dat file (VCDCopyX for OS X). Then use QT Pro to Export the video into mjpeg .mov ... then you use QT pro to break it into pieces (by hand) and export them as .dv don't worry about overlapping the dv files when breaking them up...you can sync them up in iMovie.

    Exporting your VCD-sized movie (352x240/288) to a DV stream (which is fixed in Mac at 720x480/576) will make your source material look so bad you'll want to cry.
