  1. This is a pretty odd question but maybe someone will be able to help me. I had a bunch (5,000+) of .jpgs. I made a VCD using nero, its like a picture slideshow. Then, stupidly, I deleted all of the images off of my hard-drive. I was wondering if I could convert the vcd back to .jpg's? Thanks!

So you loaded the .dat file into Vdub, could you preview it OK ?. I did test this before I posted on a shrek VCD and stopped it after a few seconds with hundreds of images saved.

  7. It showed 1 image and a fraction of another when I previewed it. Remember this is a Image VCD, nero lets you do this.

  8. How can you did it?

Can I do that with NERO?

When I said preview, you just press the play button to view the movie, it will display all the pictures.

Is the .dat file, one large file, or do you have sevral .dat files ? I'm thinking about menu's etc. What size is this .dat file ?

Image VCD, nero lets you do this
You suppose to have loaded it into Vdub and press play to preview, why are you using Nero ?

  10. In MPEGAV the "AVSEQ01.dat" is 639kb and that is the only .dat in that directory. But when I go to the directory "SEGMENT" there are 852 .dat files all being Item0001.dat, Item0002.dat, and so on.

  13. Hey,

I also have a jpg vcd created with nero, I tried to extract the jpgs from it with no luck-- the aveseq01.dat file doesn't have the jpg info- the jpegs are in each of the segment files (item0*.dat)- you can load those segment files into vdub and you'll see the bottom of the jpeg is missing or greened out??

    this has me cornfused also

  14. Have you attempted to convert those DAT files to mpg?

(see the "how to" convert link over on the left)
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Well I thought about your post as you said there were "852" .dat files but your original post said there were "5,000" jpg's so it did not sound right.

If you load the .dat files into TMPGENc what can you see when you preview ? and why would the large .dat file only have 1 image, what comes after it ? a blank screen ?

Does the VCD play ok on your computer ?

  16. I guess only 852 images is right, but I give up.. I'll just watch these images on the RCA

    Thanks for the help.

Im sorry I gave up so early, it's just that I have a lot of business to take care of and I can't just pussy foot around!

  17. oh man! I was really hoping to find out if this could be done

I tried to load the AVSEQ01.DAT file into VDub but I got this error- Error reading "E:\mpegav\avseq01.dat": incorrect function

I also tried converting the avseq01.dat file to mpeg- it didn't work.
I converted a few of the ITEM0x.DAT files to mpeg but they were all messed up when I previewed them in vdub.

I created this jpeg "slideshow" disc with Nero 5.5.7x, there is one AVSEQ01.DAT file-> 635,084b and there's 1,425 ITEM0x.DAT files each exactly 352,844b

none of the files could be previewed in TMPGenc either.

Ok I just made a quick disk with 5 images on it, the first image is displayed then movies on to a slide show containing 4 images.

Now I load Vdub and load in the Avseq01.dat inside MPEGAV this contains none of my images or slide show, instead I see a warning screen telling me my DVD should support this type of disk

I look inside the SEGMENT folder and can see 2 files, I load "Item0001.dat" and can see this is my first images before the slide show. I load in the second "Item0002.dat" and can now see my slide show with the remaining images.

Depending on how this disk was made, this is going vary

I guess if they were all together as 1 mpeg, it would work, Must have been the way Nero made them. Can you email one or 2 of them ?
