I have a few DVDs of scanned photos. I'm not using any slideshow programs. But have about 10 folders of photos on each DVD. If I play them on the DVD player I can only get the first three or four folders to play. All the folders show on the TV but the last ones appear empty. (I've checked the DVD on the cpomputer and the files are all there)

Most DVD players have a limited number of files they can read. Some limit subfolders read.
Check the manual. Do a search on your player.

CDR is usually sufficient for jpg only.

Not all firmwares are equal. Read the manual of your standalone and
check how many folders and files per-folder/per-disc it does support.

    HTH.
