  1. I have my avi captured and done some editing in premiere and i am frameserving to TMPG. i want to convert it to a SVCD. I am not concerned about file size at all, but only the final quality of the video.
What are the absolute best settings to use in TMPG for SVCD if only concerned with video quality and not file size?
If i load the SVCD Template and i go into configure which is the best rate control mode to use. (ie - CQ, CBR, VBR etc.)and what are the bitrates i should use?
Also what is the best motion search precision setting?
And is there any difference between the output quality of any of the TMPG versions so far (12a - 12i)?
Does anyone use the filters (eg sharpen images and reduce noise etc.)and what are some good settings in them to try?

    cheers for the help

In my limited experience I suggest:
2-pass variable bit rate, default settings with padding.
    high quality motion search.
    10 dc component precision.
    224 bit rate for audio
    112 vbv buffer size.
The others don't make much difference if your source material is good.If I can be of more help-ask.

    Use 12a ...
(Free MPEG2 encoder and best quality if I may believe some comparisation tests)
