  1. I've switched very recently to the TMPG plus from the free TMPG version.
The conversion to DVD files are great - I get to control the sizes of everything I convert.
However I am unable to use the old functions anymore. When I select the VCD section of 23.97fps , they only allow me to load the video component and not the audio. Resulting converted video would have no sound. (sort of the same problem in the free version with the AC3 files that I can convert in the paid version now. With Sound. )

Whereas the old free copy of TMPG automatically loads the audio when you open your video file. Now I can't load the audio even separately. And so I have to keep using the free version for VCD conversion that doesn't work on the paid version. Now I use both copies of TMPG (lucky that I kept both copies), which gets confusing and annoying. Shouldn't everthing work on the paid version?

And also, I've converted files that are 23.97fps to DVDs (though the menu decisively says it's only for 29.97fps) I've looked at the videos and they seem fine though. So why is that the case? Does that mean I am able to use the 29.97fps conversion even for files that are 23.97?

Did you 'unlock' your settings ?

  3. Yes. I've read the site mentioned, and checked every environmental setting on TMPG. I even compared the environmental settings to the freebie copy, and it's all the same.

I could get through the motions on the project wizard for the VCD settings, but when you go to edit the video, you'll notice no sound waves on the audio bits, and if you run the program anyway, you'll end up with video and no sound. And the file is a simple TV show one, not an AC3 or H274 or whatever. I am only able to convert with audio using the old freebie TMPG program and not the paid one.
