  1. ok

ive only just started using TMPGEnc

ive downloaded a movie that is two files big and about 700MB each file

what i wanted to do was split it inot 3 discs so i would have a backup copy

i used the merge and cut option and happily cut my first disc off at about 560MB and stored it in a safe place

then i cut the remainder of the 1st file out so i could later merge it with the beggining of the 2nd file i had yet to cut

the end of the 1st file went great..only 140MB big

then when i tried to cut the beggining of the 2nd file out it would only cut about 1 minute of it out and not the 28 minutes i wanted

i am making sure the sliders are correct and doing exactly the same as with the first file but this has happened on several occasions..

it also wont let me cut the 3rd disc out(the 2nd part of the 2nd file) saying 'illegal mpeg video stream'

can anyone tell me if the 2nd file is faulty(?) in some way or what i would need to do to repair it or fix it...

i really need this on discs as my HD is getting very clogged up

    any help would be great

if you are getting an error message like that then i would say that something is wrong with your file. the only thing i can think of to do is re-encode it

sometimes you do get errors, iv'e had a few like that myself. as for re-encoding,
<----click the green section where it says "newbie" then find the guide that pertains to your file and follow it.
    hope that helps..
